How to Do Close Up Photography Cheap.

fairfax and loudoun county realtors

I know you have seen those amazing closeup photos of bugs eyes and and the inner most parts of flowers. How do they do that? Well, like many things in photography you can pull out your wallet and spend $500-1500 or more for a specialty lens OR you can explore different affordable alternatives.

fairfax and loudoun county realtors If you have a DSLR with removable lenses, one of the easiest, cheapest buys you can make is a set of extension tubes. These are hollow tubes that look like small lenses BUT they have NO glass.

They work by changing the focal length of your existing lenses. I just bought myself a cheap set and am experimenting inside during our cold lengthy nights instead of watching Law and Order re-runs.

This shot was taken with my standard 18-55 mm kit lens that came with my camera with a $25 extension tube attached. There was no way I could come in this close to make this shot with any of my lenses without the extension tube. None would focus this close.

fairfax and loudoun county realtorsAs with all things...you can learn how to do this stuff by spending some time on YOUTUBE. Here is a good explanation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwgbYaB2jqI.

Just search: "close up photography, how to use extension tubes, macro photography tutorials" and the like.

There are paid courses you can take, DVDs you can buy BUT really...you can get a fine start for free by reviewing the hundreds of video tutorials folks have made on every conceivable topic.

Do not throw up your hands in despair. All you need too know is there.
