Metro Silver Line to Reston and Beyond.

Reston Town Center

Karen: We are moving to Reston next summer...Can you tell me what is happening with metro rail to Reston and beyond?

Steve: Good stuff is happening Karen, and even more good transportation options are coming. You have no idea how lucky you are transportation wise compared to the "old days".

You used to have to go "all around Robinson's Barn" to get anywhere from Reston and Herndon.

When we first moved to Reston in 1980, there was no Dulles toll road or Route 66 inside the beltway...no Fairfax County Parkway. We went to Tysons Corner via Baron Cameron (#606) to route 7 or up Lawyers Road to Vienna and over. When we went to Maryland we wiggled through Great Falls over to the beltway near the American Legion Bridge (called the Cabin John Bridge then)

The best way to keep track of the metro plans that I have found is this website

http://www.dullesmetro.com/

When it is completed, it will be truly awesome and your property values will continue to increase in the years ahead, if the past is any indication of future.

If you doubt that, you can check out how the historic property values around the Vienna, Dunn Loring and East Falls church metro stops have sky rocketed over the last 20 years...that has happened around any metro stop for that matter.

Moving to Reston, will give you tremendous job flexibility and options in the years ahead. Just look at all the current economic development around Dulles Airport. in Reston Town Center and up the toll road.

Here is a good site to help keep track of future plans https://biz.loudoun.gov/site-selection/major-developments/
