Northern Virginia Realtors: Iris and Clock

Iris and Clock

fairfax and loudoun county realtors

It kind of shoots the magic a bit when someone explains how they make something doesn't it?

But since you are my friends I will share ...This shot was made by putting a mirror on the kitchen table, putting the iris in a small clamp, turning off all the lights (it was night) and bringing in one small light from the right.

The camera was on a tripod. If you want to take better night photos, try a tripod. The shutter stayed open at least 15 seconds on this shot in order to let in enough light to make an image. You cannot hand hold a camera that long without motion blur.

When the sun goes down, there is no need to put away the camera. Pull out the tripod.

Using a tripod will allow you to make shots that are not possible with most folk's camera gear. You can also eliminate the need for flash in most cases where the objects are stationary. Eliminating flash will give you softer light and more interesting shadow play.

Another beautiful photo and we appreciate the "how" of capturing this one. I really need to make use of my tripod. Thanks for the reminder.

Thanks for sharing the tips. That is a beautiful flower and an interesting way to get the shot.

You have the best photo tips - at night, bring out the tripod.
