Foreclosed property in Northern VA November 20, 2014
A major topic of interest & conversation among home buyers and investors has always been those properties that have been through foreclosure.
Is there still opportunity despite the improved real estate market? Yes...but they are harder to find and prices and competition are up in Northern Virginia.
When folks want information about buying foreclosures, bank owned homes (REO's) are generally what they are talking about. This report shows what is available as of November 20, 2014
The number of Bank Owned homes (property that has already been foreclosed on and now offered to the public through real estate agents) has remained very steady for the past year in the Northern Virginia metro area, but at a much LOWER level than in recent years.
Fortunately for mortgage stressed home owners, real estate prices have risen in the past 5 years so that many can sell their homes normally rather than face foreclosure or short sale.
For example, in March 2009, 181 bank owned homes sold in Prince William county in that month. As of today November 20 there are a total of 57 bank owned homes for sale in Prince William county...a monumental change.
Below are those foreclosed homes currently on the market in three local counties.
