Jim: "I will probably be selling my house in Reston's The Wharf neighborhood in the months aheadIt is such a unique waterfront community that I hate to leave it, but it looks like I will be relocating soon."

"I was wondering if you could post a report that will show homes that have sold here in the last couple of years?

I want to see what is happening with sales trends in the neighborhood.

Also, before you do that could you post a link to show me what homes are currently for sale in The Wharf?"

Steve: "Happy to do so Jim.The Wharf in Reston. Jan & Steve Bachman RE/MAX

Unfortunately as of today, there are no homes in the Wharf for sale or under contract. This is such a great place that few people move.

Only 5 homes have sold  The Wharf in the last 1.5 years....since January 1, 2015: Homes sold in The Wharf...once in the link..click on the MLS # to expand the lsiting and the camera icon to see the photos."

Diane: "What home styles can I find in The Wharf?"

Steve: " This community is unique classic contemporary.   The pictures in this post are of The Wharf in late spring...beautiful isn't it?

Like a resort in the heart of Fairfax County's high tech dominion: Reston/Herndon/Dulles"

If you go to the listings in the links above and click on the camera or movie reel icons, you can see what folks have done with the various floor plans. In summer, it is common for neighbors to raft across the pond and hang out for aquatic hors d'oeuvres with their friends. What a way to unwind as the sun goes down on a warm evening.

Ted: What schools serve The Wharf?

Steve: The Wharf
is served by the following schools, with links embedded:

Sunrise Valley Elementary

Hughes Middle

South Lakes High School

Always double check the Fairfax County School Locater websiteby entering in the address of any home you plan to purchase. School boundaries change and 3rd party on line school info is not always up to date or accurate. A follow up email or phone call to the schoolwould also be advisable.

Fred: " Is there any shopping close byThe Wharf in Reston. Waterfront town houses?"

Steve: "There are more options for shopping, entertainment and dining near The Wharf than you can shake a stick at.  You can find everything you need for daily consumption right at the corner of Colts Neck and Glade at Hunters Woods Village Center.... which also has an indoor pool and community center."

Reston Town Center is just a 7 minute jump down Reston Parkway, so all the shopping and dining establishments there are easily the disposal of Wharf residents.

Fair Oaks, Fair Lakes and Fairfax Corner are all not much more than 15 minutes away in the other direction down Lawyers Road to West Ox. You can get anywhere from The Wharf.

Diane: The Wharf sounds good and looks great from these photos. What philosophical advice would you give us regarding our Reston house hunting adventure?

Steve: Check out the totality of the choices before you, analyze your needs and wants, separate the two, visit as many properties as you need to until you can connect with just the right home for you.

It will be almost a spiritual sensation....a 1970’s  terminology…you should feel the right “vibe”.

The right real estate agent will understand this and enjoy the hunt as much as you will…do not work with anyone with whom YOU don't also have that “vThe Wharf in Reston. Waterfront town housesibe”..... there is no point in that.

....And try to be at peace about the whole process.

Diane: Would you and your wife be interested in helping us find just the right home?

Steve: Happy to help with no hassle and no pressure Diane. Just drop us a line and we can chat about your requirements.
